My Daddy always said...

Okay beautiful people, today's word is trifling. Do you have a trifling family member, co-worker, friend or ex-friend for that matter because one can only take so much trife in their life. You know that kind of trifling where you vow to never talk to someone again because they trife and you know they always will be. That kind of trifling when you have loaned till you can't loan no more and this time all you can offer is a hug and a prayer. Just a person so disgustingly trifling, you can't be around them for too long for fear off their trife rubbing off on you. Well I know a person like that too. Coincidentally this same person gave me life. There are many words that one could use to describe their Daddy but Webster couldn't create a better word for mine. His trifling ways have taught me that growing older does not always mean growing up. While grooming my Daddy says things like "I'm cleaner than the board of health" and "Clorox ain't got nothing o

My claim to fame

So it's this reality t.v. show called Big Brother that I have never seen or hardly ever heard of until word got around that my buddy Parker would be on it. So of course I called my two closest girlfriends (who also know Parker) and we proceeded to watch the show together through text messages, while one is in Georgia, the other is in Chicago and I am in Carbondale.  Now I love me some reality t.v. and I also love seeing people act a fool so I knew that CBS was in for a big surprise when Parker showed his... you know what, because he is one plum fool! So we are just texting back and forth, commenting on what's happening and then I noticed something about all of us.  When you know someONE and they blow up-even a mini bubble gum blow up, they all of sudden become... someBODY. Now me and my girls are nosey so we do have that as a common interest but in our very own way, we are interested in the show because of Parker and his relevance in our lives just tootsie rolled right up to th

Smell the stupidity

Hello beautiful people, how was your All Star Sunday? Good I hope, mine got me thinking about how talented and smart athletes are to use what they got to get what they want. I mean as soon as I find out what my talent is I'm going straight to the bank! Some people just have that effect on you where when you see them doing good, you smile and commend them on a job well done and wish that you could be as successful. Well most of us do... others dwell on their misfortunes and prey on you when you're weak so they can kick you while you down. Some call them haters, I simply call them stupid. Now stupidity can go a long way, but during my college years, it seems as if stupidity stopped and made Carbondale it's new home. Carbondale is close to being the southernmost city in Illinois, home of the Salukis and birthplace of "Kill Yo Self," a term that has paved it's way to the heart of my nerves. Some stupid little girl came up with this stupid little idea of getting ba

Disconnected

I just got off the phone talking about my 17 year old brother and 18 year old sister who I absolutely love to pieces but am sad to say how I really don't have a strong relationship with either of them. I think that it is very important that the youth have a positive role model, someone close to them in age, someone they can trust but I must not think too highly of it if I am not helping my own. It's funny how I mentor students that I go to school with and am a role model to my seven year old cousin Destiny but fail to connect with my own sister and brother. My cousin Syreeta was a great role model to me when I was a teenager, and still is even with three snot nose kids she can do no wrong in my eyes. I don't think I could have grown up without her but my sister and brother barely know what I look or sound like anymore. Big ups to the tmobile sidekick because our relationships are " smply a txt msg awy frm b n "... extinct.   Charse always said that I treat complet
