Has our luck ran out?

Have you noticed, that we don't find money just laying around on the ground anymore? We no longer receive fortune cookies with our Chinese food order. Where did you find the four-leaf clover, wish upon a shooting star, follow a rainbow to the end? I can't tell you the last time I seen a rabbit's foot hanging out of somebodies uncle's back Wrangler pocket.

You know why? Cause luck is learned.

It's the act of turning lemons into lemonade. It's the process of believing and accepting the unknown. Something most adults no longer know how to do because we are hard-wired to figure everything out. Especially if we are parents. Especially if we are single parents. We can't just jump out on a whim. That's crazy, right? What if we fail? How will we eat?

It's hard to imagine finding clarity on the answer without quite knowing how to get to the answer. You may not even be able to clearly identify the problem. But knowing what you want is most important. The clearer you are about who you are and what you want, the more alert and aware you will be to the opportunities and possibilities to achieve it. Are you following me?

Imagine this: You are presented with an opportunity that could change your life. BUT, there is one obstacle standing in your way. You have two options: sink or swim, fly or die, do or don't. Hurdle the obstacle or complain about the obstacle.

A lucky person asks How. How can I get over this obstacle? How can I get to my next step?

An unlucky person asks Why. Why is this obstacle in my way? Why is this always happening to me?

Discover your How, instead of your Why. If you feel unlucky, change your path. Don't stop because you feel defeated. Defy the odds and find a way to succeed. Make your luck work for you.

A lucky person is often a successful person. They see where they want to be in life and they are determined to do what needs to be done to get there. When things happen to them, some could call it luck but others know it's because of the amount of work and effort they have put into the universe to make such things happen for them. Unlucky people are often unsuccessful people. They are fuzzy about their vision and bendable in their beliefs and stances. The attitude of why not me, when is my break going to come through is instead, putting the pressure on the action, not the person. YOU have to put forth the time and effort. I've never heard of luck knocking down your door to find you.

Do you think that people who win the lottery are lucky? Do you know that they bought a ticket every day for the last two months before they actually won? Increasing your odds of winning can only happen if you continue to play the game. So the deciding factor was less luck, than the actual effort and frequency put in to win.

You gotta be following me now. Your luck has not run out, it's waiting to be created. Get a pen and paper, and write out your goals. Draw the obstacles that may stand in your way. Map the path to get around them. Visualize yourself at the finish line. Practice your victory dance.

Create your luck. Create your story. Not only Because I said so, but because, who better to do it than you? Say these affirmations and quotes with me:

Lucky events can be created. You'll never hit a target you can't see. Luck comes when preparation meets opportunity. You can't win if you don't play. Today is your day!
